About Apprentice

The KAI Apprentice program was developed to give the curriculum of Kanyok Arts Initiative’s Collective program to a broader audience in a more condensed environment. Similar to a typical convention weekend, dancers from all over North America come to NYC for a 3 day intensive weekend of 19 hours of class with KAI Faculty members under the direction of Laurie Kanyok. The Apprentice’s have the benefit of training with KAI’s esteemed faculty in the intimate setting within KAI’s home studio, OneSixty, receiving privatized classes entirely unique to the current dance educational system. The Apprentice Program is meant to cultivate and educate young artists and introduce them to the New York City dance scene.

The Apprentices receive the same daily schedule as the Collectives whereby commencing with a full ballet class and moving thru various classic dance disciplines, voice and acting classes. They are also offered performance opportunities with the Collectives throughout the year.
